Naveed Ali & The Royal We

Picture
The Royal We (Funk/Blues/Alternative) is a musical collective that upholds love as a means to disrupt the status quo and maintains that the colonial compass rose of this planet has its roots buried in land that is stolen, thorns that intentionally prick the undeserving and petals that reek of intolerance.

Wayne Harris & Friends

Picture
Music is the heartbeat of my life.
From the raw, upbeat tempo of Rock and Roll with Exit Strategy, to the emotional connection of Folk, the creative challenge of Jazz with FunGuise, and the ancestral pull of Celtic music with Erin Harris and Jake Pattison—each style speaks to a different part of me.
This performance is a celebration of all these styles, shared with family and friends. Erin, Jake, and perhaps a few surprise guests will join me in what we lovingly call a kitchen party.
Come sing with us, share the joy and be part of the music.

Carson Redden

Picture
Ry Cooder asked, “How can you keep moving unless you migrate too?” Following that notion I appeared on Haida Gwaii in February 2025 for reasons that weren’t clear to me at the time and are still subject to revision. I host a country music show called Barrooms to Barricades that airs on UVic’s radio station, CFUV and write songs about the inconsistent, troubled, strange people that I love.

David Archer

Picture
David is a composer, pianist, producer, and writer based in Daajing Giids. "I'd like you to come to the show," he says. David's creative moods ride the border between serious and absurd. His work is deeply influenced by human responses to the climate crisis, life with a chronic illness, and science fiction. His 2023 album and audio installation, "We Have All the Time on Earth", was featured in a collaborative show with Benedicte Hansen at Saahlinda Naay (Haida Gwaii Museum). That album blends piano music with sounds of the Haida Gwaii biosphere. His 2024 EP, "Radiant", is the result of a year-long obsession with one piece of music by J.S. Bach. You can hear all that, watch a music video, or dig into David's back catalogue of choral and orchestral music by visiting www.davidarcher.net.

Karen Dean

Picture
Music is the wonderful catalyst that brings us together - in joy, pain, sorrow and celebration.  I grew up with music as the best way to get through the worst and best of times.  From Pete Seeger singing in our living rook to marching for justice, music teaches us, helps us share feelings about what is happening in the world around us, and reminds us of our common humanity.  The biggest joy for me is to hear other voices joining in, finding their way to heal and be brave through sharing sound.  Music is movement, making change and kicking ass!  Come and share a little of  the music I love, some of what I wrote, and help us kick off 2025 with some indignation and hope.
